I received my first Bärenreiter edition when I was 8 years old, it was Telemann’s “Die Kleine Kammermusik”!
When I conducted my first opera in 2016, I was able to draw on the excellent Bärenreiter Urtext edition of Handel’s “Lucio Cornelio Silla” HWV 10, edited by Terence Best. In addition to the high scholarly level, the performance material is extremely transparent and geared towards the practical needs of performers. It is always optimally presented with regard to page turns, recitatives, figured bass, etc. This is fantastic!
