In preparation for recitals or operas, working with the text and the music is of the utmost importance; many hours are needed to memorise vocal scores and full scores. When travelling, you only have the most important, personal things with you in your hand luggage – for me, this always includes the music editions. Losing them is a nightmare. So over the years, a special connection has developed, so to speak, not only to the music, but also to the printed editions. And this affection was perhaps also felt by all the singers who were involved in a “singing week” when Bärenreiter was founded in 1923. They too set out as singing “Wandervögel” with song sheets and spread the music to all parts of the country.
Since early childhood, Bärenreiter editions have formed an integral part of my music making and provide immense help in understanding the works. I greatly appreciate the very appealing presentation and the attention to detail which go into Bärenreiter Urtext editions. So I cordially congratulate you on your anniversary and send my very best wishes. Precisely because of the exciting changes in an increasingly digitized world, I wish the publisher and all its employees a successful future. May the Bärenreiter bear continue to be under a lucky star!
