When I think of Bärenreiter, I always feel reminded of my childhood. I was 9 years old at the time. My teacher gave me a CD with Mozart’s horn concertos. That was the first time I heard a horn together with an orchestra. I was so enthusiastic about the music that I wanted to play the pieces too. So I ran straight to the music shop in my home town of Göttingen. And there I found Mozart’s 3rd Horn Concerto by Bärenreiter. At that time, of course, I didn’t know Bärenreiter, but the logo, the bear with the star, was deeply imprinted in my memory. When I see it today, I immediately feel transported back to my childhood and the feeling of discovering a big new world.
